Step Challenge - the story so far

15 February 2008

On 2nd January the Cirkle team shook off their New Year’s hangovers, clipped on their Fitbugs and began their Step Challenge for 2008 to raise money for the Whizz-Kidz charity. With an initial high level of enthusiasm, we reached Paris by day four using our ‘online virtual trainers’ to log our steps, making it impossible for us to lose track.

On the 17th day, Cirkle had stepped through Brussels and Frankfurt and arrived in Milan. We were heroes in our local newspaper, the Bucks Advertiser, who ran a story on our challenge along with a team picture which gave the stragglers the motivation to pick up the pace. Additionally, we received a very positive write up from the Fresh Produce Journal, which applauded our aim and helped to draw attention to our challenge and, more importantly, the Whizz-Kidz charity.

By the end of January we had stomped through a further three countries; Austria, Slovakia and Hungary. Although slightly behind schedule by about 20%, the team are committed to upping their steps in February and have been spurred into gear by generous donations from our clients and the media.

Cirkle will be teaming up with a personal trainer from a local fitness studio once a week to raise their step count with activities such as netball, spinning and jogging. Some of us are more excited than others, but everyone will be making a change in their schedule to incorporate an increase of steps in some form. We are now only 37,626 steps from Romania and hope to pass four more countries to be close to Dubai by the end of February. With the upcoming month planned to be extremely busy with publishing house tours and events from Schwartz, Tropicana and Wilkinson Sword, the team are confident that we can reach the targeted landmarks.
