Three of our senior team comprising our Deputy MD, Trade Director and our Trade Associate Director attended last week’s annual IGD conference entitled ‘The Big Debate’.

Turning around a comprehensive report from the day in record time, we provided our clients with the key outtakes from some of the fmcg industry’s most influential thought leaders. Delegates were privy to the IGD’s annual future gazing and state-of-the-nation addresses which included such heavyweight speakers as Asda Chief Executive Andy Clarke, Mondelez’s Northern Europe President Mary Barnard, Unilever President Jan Zijderveld as well as Tesco boss Dave Lewis’ who apologised to suppliers for the retailers’ historic misdemeanours.

This year’s main themes included sustainability, price deflation and health, with delegates being warned that the current trend for driving down prices would ultimately destroy overall value and consumer trust in UK grocery. ‘The annual IGD conference is one of the most anticipated events in the UK food and drink industry calendar. We were delighted to be part of it to hear first hand from some of the industry’s biggest hitters, in turn furnishing our clients with in depth insight to help grow their businesses.” commented our MD Ruth Allchurch.
