Our Foodservice team was delighted to kick off Premier Foods’ third annual ‘McDougalls Young Baking Team of the Year’ competition.

Targeting school caterers and pupils, the competition aims to bring learning outside of the classroom and into the kitchen – to drive food and cooking engagement amongst children aged 7-11. To launch the initiative and inspire schools to enter the competition, we went back to a previous winners' school and held a live cookery masterclass.

We invited key trade media to attend to witness Premier Foods’ culinary team bring the competition’s ‘Local Produce’ theme to life in innovative recipes (using locally sourced fruit and veg). Year Six pupils got hands on, kneading bread rolls and rolling out pastry, using products from the McDougalls Flour Based Mixes range.

This launch activity has already secured an exclusive double page spread editorial in one of the education sector’s leading title ‘Educatering’.
